Worrying Figures of Individuals Now Vape, Warns Global Health Body
More than 100 hundred million users, comprising at minimum 15 million minors, presently use e-cigarettes, driving a fresh trend of nicotine dependency, as stated by recent worldwide medical data.
Children are, usually, nine times more inclined than grown-ups to use e-cigarettes, based on existing global data.
Vaping devices are fueling a "fresh wave" of nicotine habit, commented a leading health expert. "They are marketed as damage limitation but, in reality, are ensnaring children on nicotine earlier and risk undermining decades of advancement."
Teens Being 'Targeted'
"Millions of citizens are stopping, or refraining from tobacco use thanks to tobacco regulation efforts by states around the world," the representative commented.
"As an answer to this substantial improvement, the tobacco sector is fighting back with novel nicotine products, actively focusing on adolescents. Governments must respond faster and more vigorously in implementing tested tobacco-control policies," the representative further stated.
The vaping statistics are a projection since some nations - 109 in sum, and numerous in Africa and Asian regions - lack information.
Based on the study, as of this past February this period, at least 86 million e-cigarette users were grown-ups, primarily in developed countries.
And at minimum 15 million teenagers between the ages of 13 and 15 already engage in vaping, according to surveys from 123 countries.
While several countries have made efforts to establish e-cigarette regulations to tackle child vaping in recent years, by the end of 2024, 62 nations yet had no policy in effect, and 74 countries had no age restriction at which e-cigarettes can be acquired, reports the medical authority.
Meanwhile, tobacco use has been dropping - from an approximated 1.38 billion individuals in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.
Occurrence of tobacco usage among females dropped the most - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.
For men, the decrease was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.
But one in five of grown-ups worldwide even now consumes tobacco.
Smoking is associated to many conditions, such as cancer.
Professionals claim vaping is considerably less harmful than tobacco products, and can help you stop smoking. It is discouraged for those who don't smoke.
E-cigarettes eliminate burning tobacco and do not create tar or toxic gas, a pair of the most damaging elements in tobacco smoke. They include nicotine, which may be addictive.
