Former British Broadcasting Corporation Specialists Undergo MPs' Grilling After Assertions of Prejudice in Disclosed Memorandum

Former British Broadcasting Corporation consultants testifying in front of MPs

We begin with questions from Tory Member of Parliament the panel's head, who oversees the panel.

She opens by offering background to the disclosed document written by Michael Prescott and printed in a daily publication.

"It is not my wish for the BBC leaning this way or that way, I just want it balanced, unbiased and fair," he states.

Upon being questioned whether he believes the BBC is institutionally biased, Prescott answers: "No, I do not. To be clear, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation creates is exceptional - encompassing documentary and fictional shows."

Nevertheless, he states: "There exists significant effort that must be undertaken at the British Broadcasting Corporation."

A further ex-adviser BBC consultant interviewed by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she regards the BBC with great importance and that it operates a "ongoing system and lively discussion" regarding dynamic and complex issues.

"Did the BBC prepared to engage in a thorough dialogue and debate and take action?" she reflects. "In my view, yes they were."
