Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.
The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Allegations Posted on Social Media
The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Not on File
No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles
Rice missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
