Barça Set to Play Historic Match at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday

Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in La Liga over two years after they moved out to allow renovations to start.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. Barça announced completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.

Preparatory Events

Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium in early November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side in December in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
